About YardMath

YardMath answers the "how much do I actually need?" questions of DIY homeowners — before you load the car, not after.

Every home project starts the same way: a measurement, a coverage number on the back of a bag, and a creeping doubt that you've done the math right. Buy too little and you're back at the store mid-project; buy too much and the surplus lives in your garage for a decade.

YardMath turns those moments into one-minute calculations. Mulch by the cubic yard, paint by the gallon, seed by the pound, pavers by the piece — each calculator uses standard industry coverage rates, shows its formula on the page, and explains the judgment calls (waste factors, depth choices, coats) that formulas can't make for you.

We're DIY homeowners ourselves, not contractors. When a project crosses into structural or drainage territory, our guides say so plainly.

What makes YardMath different

  • Your numbers never leave your browser. Every calculator on YardMath runs entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit the figures you enter — there are no accounts and no server-side processing of your inputs.
  • Published methodology. Each calculator page explains the exact formula it uses and the assumptions behind it, so you can check our work or reproduce it in a spreadsheet.
  • Free, forever, without a paywall. YardMath is supported by advertising. There is no premium tier, no email gate, and no upsell.

Independence

YardMath is an independent educational project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency, lender, insurer, or the organizations whose formulas and public data we reference (such as cooperative-extension and industry coverage standards). All trademarks and referenced standards belong to their respective owners.
